Letter from the editor:
It’s me, the one-woman staff of the Ten Times. August is hot and sticky, and I’m here with top tips on how to eat well, smell better (well…maybe), and most of all, STAY COOL. Advice is tongue-in-cheek except for when it isn’t, and highly specific because we only have one subject for market research around here, and that’s me. Did I mention this publication is mine?

In This Issue:
Pit Stop: Trying natural deodorant, nbd.
Hot Dang: Hot Singles near you are turning the oven up and creating delicious meals. PLUS I’ve found the antidote to sweat: lavender cold brew. (Well, actually, water’s the antidote, but you don’t need a recipe for that).
In the heavy haze of summer humidity, I deflate, my Will To Cook melting in a puddle beside me. What to make when you don’t want to move a muscle?
I present you with two recipes. One is the perfect antidote to summer: quick, cool, and refreshing. The other? Well, it’s kind of the opposite of a good summer recipe, but it’s so good, I happily turned up the oven and got to work. Bring on the heat!
The only way to make roasting a chicken in the summertime bearable? Do it after dark, when the house is cooler and you’re heading to bed after heating up the kitchen. Plus, is there anything more grown up and ridiculous than staying up past your bedtime to snack on a roast chicken?
After all of that, I think you deserve the ease of Lavender Cold Brew:
Make sure to use cold or room temperature water. Hot water will activate EXTREME lavender taste (your first sip would be like inhaling potpourri from your grandma’s knickknack shelf, and nobody wants that).
Happy August, thanks for reading, and stay cool, baby!
❤️️, Ten
