Thank you so much!

First album impression: overwhelm! So much new material all at once! But, like, an exciting problem to have. I'm letting it be a slow absorption--I'm really enjoying it as a whole thing now that I've taken some time. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart?! So brilliant, with all the callbacks to the concert. (And "I cry a lot, but I am so productive"? Relatable.) I really love when famous artists write about their specific weird famous-existence problems, instead of pretending to be normal people (we all know you have a publicist and a zillion dollars!) Taylor addressing the fans who were super aghast at her dating choices has me cheering from the bleachers. Do what you want! Be a person instead of a good example! I think the enduring thing about her music for me is that for all her fame, she still writes things that make me go "oh, I've felt that way!" Especially the whole story of responsible girl who likes to be good at a lot of things but is reaching a point where she needs to find a new way to do things (one with more falling apart and 'what do *I* want?' direction). How about you? What are your thoughts??

"Do what you want! Be a person instead of a good example!" Wow, yes. I recently discovered a subreddit called Swiftly Neutral for people who like her music but are also open to nuanced discussions. I think I consumed too much of it leading up to the album release and after it was released in order for me to have an unbiased perspective on it 🙈 I'm trying to give myself some distance from the album and maybe in a few weeks I'll give it another try and see how I really feel about it. There are some gems in the album for sure though. LOVE Florence & The Machine featuring in it.
